UNENDING EVOLUTION:-
The Unending evolution of the unstitched single-piece garment-the great national dress of Indian women who celebrate life with this gorgeous outfit-stands proudly today, flying high in the world of fashion, withstanding the onslaught from the fierce wave of western fashion that swayed the oriental nations over a millennium, and has in fact generated enough fascination for fashion gurus around the world.
This evergreen fashion apparel which is draped, knotted or tucked in, saw many innovations over a period of time, both in terms of the wearing product and the wearing style to suit the occasion, discretion and aesthetics.
These were greatly influenced by geographical factors, climate and cultural congregations and of course, the never ending churning happening in the fashion world.
EMOTIONAL CONNECT WITH THE SAREE:-
The saree is at the apex of our fashion pyramid. We as Indians have a very emotional connect with the saree which cannot be broken so easily. The deep involvement and complete sense of identity of Indian women with the saree, has made them resist the pressure to change their style of dress, inadvertently providing continuity in weaving traditions of every part of the country. The saree allows us to go back at least a thousand years in terms of evolution of designs and patterns. It is conceived on the loom as a three-dimensional garment with variables in pattern, weave and structure between its inner and outer end piece and its two borders, which provide drape, strength and weight, while the body enhances its drape. All these elements help maintain the form of the saree when it is worn.
